So I bit apple for an IV experiment. The results are great and despite a huge 16% run-up in the stock since opening the trade, the experiment resulted in 13.6% gain. Some of the discussion were captured at the forum.
IV profiles also changed significantly, Jul IV has been dropping due to run-up in stock but the Aug IV keep on rising as the earning announcement in coming closer.
Though one experiment is not good enough, but this has given me an additional strategy to play with a) rise and/or decline in IV and b) rise and/or fall in underlying.
I shall share when I’ll run more experiment on the same strategy sometime in the next quarter.
