The Investment Game

February 16, 2007

I was recently re-reading Robert T. Kiyosaki’s Rish Dad’s Guide to Investing and found this interesting quote, let me share this with you to ponder over the weekend:

The world on investing looks like a professional football game. You have the TV commentators describing the play-by-play battle of the blue chip giants on the field. There are the adoring fans purchasing shares instead of tickets, cheering for their favorite team…there are the bookmakers, called stockbrokers, who give you stock quotes over the phone and record your bets. What most people do not see in both arenas of the sports world and the investment world is the business behind both games….

It’s the business behind the business that makes money regardless of who wins the game or which way the market goes-up or down. It’s the business that sells the tickets to the game; it does not buy the ticket“.

Cheers and wish ya’ll profitable trading, OptionPundit

Seriously, that is only partly true. What would we say of those who also consistently win from their ticket? 😉

I always felt Kiyosaki should keep his opinions on the stock market out of his books. To my knowledge, he didn’t make his money in the stock market, and I feel that most of the time he opens his mouth on the stock market, he’s revealing not what he’s learned, but what other people have told him.

That criticism out of the way, Robert was responsible for showing me the way and inspiring me to my current financial freedom and passive income. So thumbs up on everything else he talks about.

Am enjoying your perspectives, keep up the good work.
    Cheers / Ben

Haha…… this sounds funny and may irritate some though….. not criticism but just a comical comparison.

It’s just like business that runs trading courses. Talking about financial freedom. Sell courses to teach trading. Some ppl win, some ppl lose in the game.

It’s the business behind the business that makes money regardless of who wins the game or which way the market goes-up or down. It’s the business that sells the “courses” to the game; it does not buy it“. 😛
