queston for you, I played the GOOG 540 put calender spread idea but just now realized earnings are just before July expiration (7/17) therefore I am thinking will have to take profits now even though I was looking forward to holding it until expiration, athe earnings can move the stock too far away from the strike obviously potentially removing most of the profits even though if there were no earnings upcoming I would hold for sure.
What do you think?

Great work! Very organised site and your income trades are very educational. I too believe that income trades are important and should form a good % of one’s trading portfolio.

Your blog is really cool..For an option newbie like me , the blog and the Newsletter was quite helpful in understanding the basic nuances of Option strategies like Calendar Spreads and Iron Condor . I know there is still lots to explore ..But site like yours make this exploration a fun and an enjoyable experience…Thanks for the work..and keep the flow going . I am a new reader checking your website for about a month. You are very nice to share your knowledge to other
people. Tried many option strategies for the last 3 years..always challenging..lost lot of money…controlling my emotions now for the
last 5 months..going slowly not jumping into every move which was my past mistake with no money management.
Now, I am concentrating only on calendars and cr.spreads which works for my style.

Could you help advise what this username/password is used for at your site?

The registration is required to view “members only” posting, at times.
I, sometimes, also send trade alerts as well as heads-up to members. There is no particular frequency, it is only when I find something worth sharing.
Unless you receive an e-mail, there is no need to login.

Great site I found it from a link on another blog. I had a couple of questions for you but couldn’t find your email address on this blog. Basically I wanted to know the best place to start for someone with very little knowledge about options? Basically I only know about buying and selling calls/puts.

Check out’s OP’s toolbox, specially the toolbox sub category where you can find links to various websites/portal that provides information on option trading. Also look at the Chicago board of Exchange (CBOE) website for the explanation on options.
One done, then I shall highly recommend understanding greek i.e. delta, theta, gamma, vega etc. In OP’s toolbox, look for “CB Options Startegy Guide” to understand more about those.
Don’t sign-up for any seminars yet.
Once you have understood basic options, Greeks then head to “Options Strategy simulator”. Try simulating few strategies.
Once you are done, then open a “paper trading account”.
Don’t sign-up for any seminar yet.
Do paper trading for 2-3months. Learn from the mistakes. Keep a track of your questions and diagnose every trade.
Now sign-up for a seminar as you ready to take advantage of these costly seminars. You can then nail these “gurus” and get most benefit.
This process may take few months but it’s worth it. Market has been there, will be there to make money. There is no hurry.
