experienced Katrina’s terror during my stay at Austin, Texas. We were advised to store food supplies, water, and dry food and evacuate to safer places. We could hardly find enough of anything to eat on the walmart’s Shelves. Hardly a bottle of mineral water was available. I pray Gustav doesn’t gain strength. According to MSNBC, The killer storm has already killed 15 people on Haiti’s deforested southern peninsula, where it dumped 12 inches or more of rain. A landslide buried eight people, including a mother and six of her children, in the neighboring Dominican Republic. By Labor Day, Gustav could make landfall anywhere from south Texas to the Florida panhandle, and hurricane experts said everyone in between should be concerned.
Here is the latest warning from National Hurrcan Centre. The Next advisory will be iussued around 11 AM EDT. Keep checking for updates.
Just to provide perspective, The hurricane Katrina caused severe destruction across the entire Mississippi coast and into Alabama, as far as 100 miles (160 km) from the storm’s center. In the 2005 Atlantic season, Katrina was the eleventh tropical storm, fifth hurricane, third major hurricane, and second Category 5 hurricane.

Glad that Gustav was not as devastating as Katrina.
Thank God that’s all I can think of. Such times are really terrifying and nothing else really matters except saving your life and as many lives as you can save. I am fortunate to have survived some really terrifying natural disasters due to blessings from many. These are life changing experiences.
