Tough Markets, the worst June for Dow since the great depression of early 30s. The Dow is down nearly 9.5%, S&P500 nearly 8%, RUT nearly 5.5% and Nasdaq nearly 7.5% for the month of June so far and we still have one more trading day left. Dow Jones industrial average is down nearly 20% since [...]

Interest Rates - Increase or Flat?

In: Market Psychology and US Market

There are two major economic indicators due today. Durable good order at 8:30am US EST and of course the FOMC announcement at 2:15pm. Markets may not move as much in the morning but expect the big move around 2:15pm to 2:30pm. Implied volatility of the July options will rise before falling back after the announcement. [...]

US markets suffered big losses last week. The DOW was down 3.3%, S&P 500 was down nearly 2.5%, Nasdaq was down nearly 1.5 %. This was OPNewsletter’s first week since we opened our July’08 portfolio and including commissions OPN’s is up+4% and x-commission it is up +5.8% for the July expiration cycle. We opened 5 [...]

An excellent month for OPNewsletter with double digit gains. OPNewsletter’s June 2008 was closed for +11.1%. This is nearly double of my own target of 5-7% per month. These returns excludes the bonus speculative trades on JOYG (+40%), RIG (Multiple Profit Points), GLD and CME (Multiple Profit Points-Shared for free with OP Readers), [...]

Where is the Bull?

In: Trade Ideas and US Market

Amongst all the bearishness in the market you might think there is none except one obvious answer OIL. There are many areas that are just moving up with their own share of correction along the up way.
I have been mentioning my “Fantastic Four” for quite sometime. Even since my last post, in just less [...]

OPN Performance

This assumes a $10,000 starting and fully invested capital. The current phase started when OPNewsletter was re-opened in Jan'08 for Feb'08 expiration. OPN Month is counted as 3rd Friday of each month same as US Equity option expiration day. Comparison with S&P500 or Dow is not shown as it's unfair to expect from such large institution to deliver high returns. I would rather compare with my own target.

OPN Performance (Current) - http://sheet.zoho.com

The Phase-1 assumes from May 2007 till Jan 2008 and starting fully invested capital of $10,000.
