Bear Sterns (BSC) : Falling from grace

In: Calendar spread and Trade Ideas

(for details pls visit www.OptionPundit.net)

Have you noticed IV in BSC options recently? Attached chart from Ivolatility shows IV profile as of friday close >70%. However, as of now ATM levels are trading above 100%. There may be differences in the way IV is calculated by Ivolatility or ToS. Albeit, it offers great option premiums to play. It has [...]

Sector rotation was something that I discussed first time here on May 27, 2007.  I talked about where money was flowing and also mentioned about 21 picks. It’s been roughly 7 weeks since then and I thought let’s review if my analysis was worthwhile and how did individual picks do.
Here is the [...]

Blackstone is up +16%

In: Trade Ideas

Blackstone is one of those picks where I think I would like to own some stocks for long term. Probably the most awaited IPO in recent weeks. It was priced at $31  but currently it is trading around $36, that’s roughly 16% up vs the IPO price.
No matter what others might think, I am long [...]

GOOG, ready, set, go

In: Trade Ideas

Goog is just breaking out from a multi-year high as well as resistance area of $515-$520 range. This is an example of very simple chart analysis of support and resistance areas clearly showing that google [...]

Where is the money flowing now?

In: Trade Ideas

Sector rotation is one of my favourite “health check point” to guage where the money is flowing. If the market is up and up but if I am caught into wrong sector, I will not be able to take full advantage of the bull run. As Jim cramer always says, there is always a bull run, [...]

OPN Performance

This assumes a $10,000 starting and fully invested capital. The current phase started when OPNewsletter was re-opened in Jan'08 for Feb'08 expiration. OPN Month is counted as 3rd Friday of each month same as US Equity option expiration day. Comparison with S&P500 or Dow is not shown as it's unfair to expect from such large institution to deliver high returns. I would rather compare with my own target.

OPN Performance (Current) - http://sheet.zoho.com

The Phase-1 assumes from May 2007 till Jan 2008 and starting fully invested capital of $10,000.
